Mike Andry Named December 2018 Employee of the Month

Mike Andry, of the Garland County Landfill, was recognized by the Garland County Human Resources Committee on Monday, November 26, 2018, during the monthly Quorum Court meeting. Andry was honored as the December 2018 recipient of the Employee of the Month award. "Mike meets the public with a can-do attitude every day and does his best to make the customers day better. He works as our Transfer Station Operator. Mike is part of the reason why our recycling program is so good." remarked Billy Sawyer.

Mike has been employed with Garland County since October 20, 2009.


Dennis Golden Named November 2018 Employee of the Month

Dennis Golden, a Bailiff for the Garland County Juvenile Court,  was recognized by the Garland County Human Resources Committee on Monday, November 26, during the monthly Quorum Court meeting. Golden was honored as the November 2018 recipient of the Employee of the Month award. "Dennis is very supportive of the juveniles that come through our court. Recently he attended a Court Officers Association conference out of town. The conference was near a location where some of our juveniles were attending a training program. On his own time, he stopped by to see the teenagers to let them know that the Juvenile Court employees were thinking about them and supporting them." remarked Kevin Hoffman.

Dennis has been with Garland County since August 11, 2014.


Shanon Cothran Named October 2018 Employee of the Month

The Garland County Human Resources Committee recognized Shanon Cothran, of the Treasurer's office, as the October 2018, recipient of the Garland County Employee of the Month award. Cothran accepted the honor on Monday, November 26, 2018, during the monthly Garland County Quorum Court meeting. The Employee of the Month award requires a nomination from an elected official or department head detailing the reasons the nominee should be chosen. "Although Shanon has only worked in our office less that one year, she exhibits skills normally displayed by an employee with much longer tenure plus she is always eager to learn." remarked Garland County Treasurer Tim Stockdale.

Cothran serves as the Bookkeeper of the Garland County Treasurer's office and has worked for Garland County since May 21, 2018.


Sydni Smith Named September 2018 Employee of the Month

Sydni Smith,of the Garland County 911 Communications Center, was recognized by the Garland County Human Resources Committee on Monday, October 11, 2018, during the monthly Quorum Court meeting. Smith was honored as the September 2018 recipient of the Employee of the Month award. The Employee of the Month award requires a nomination from a department head detailing the reasons the nominee should be chosen.

"Sydni has contributed ideas and policy suggestions that would decrease department overtime and extra help requests, thus saving the county money.  She has consistently demonstrated loyalty and dedication by working numerous split shifts, graveyards, filling in when employees are sick, staying late and coming in early, to ensure that the safety of the public and our Law Enforcement partners were maintained." Sydni has achieved these successes by working many 12-14 hour days, while still maintaining a full educational schedule as she strives for her degree in Criminal Justice." Remarked Corky Martin

Sydni has been employed with the county since October of 2014.

"I'm touched beyond words that I was nominated for Employee of the Month. I'm extremely thankful and honored to have been chosen. I'm blessed to be a part of the 911 Center, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for us." stated Smith.

Paula Moody Named August 2018 Employee of the Month

The Garland County Human Resources Committee recognized Paula Moody of the Garland County Assessor's Office as the August 2018 recipient of the Employee of the Month award. Moody was honored at the Monday, October 11, 2018 monthly Quorum Court Meeting. The Employee of the Month award requires a nomination from a department head detailing the reasons the nominee should be chosen. 

"Paula is always going that extra mile to ensure the employees, the office and taxpayers are getting the best service available," remarked Shannon Sharp, Garland County Assessor. "Paula's ability to multi-task is critical, and with her work load in various departments, as well as handling things that only she can do, is impeccable."

Moody serves as the Chief Deputy Assessor and has worked with Garland County for almost eighteen years.

"I am deeply honored to receive the Employee of the Month for August. My daddy always told me that no matter what job I did, do it to

 the best of my ability or don't do it at all, " Moody stated in an email. She added, "Shannon Sharp is an exceptional boss. Shannon is a hard-working assessor and I want to do everything I can to help her do her job as the Garland County Assessor."


Chris Kolasch Named July 2018 Employee of the Month

The Garland County Human Resources Committee recognized Chris Kolasch of the Garland County Environmental Services department as the July 2018 recipient of the Employee of the Month award. The Employee of the Month award requires a nomination from a department head detailing the reasons the nominee should be chosen.

"The county trash truck had caught on fire in the load; the county procedure is to find a big open area and eject the load. Chris jumped into action and saved the county lots of money and downtime," remarked Billy Sawyer, Assistant Director of the Garland County Environmental Services Department. "I cannot express my gratitude and thankfulness that Chris has done a great job."

Kolasch currently serves as a General Float Operator for the Garland County Environmental Services department and has worked with Garland County for fourteen years. 

"It was very motivational to me and how the county has changed to recognize the employees," stated Kolasch. "It meant the world to me to receive this award."

Michelle Hessee Named June 2018 Employee of the Month

Michelle Hessee of the Garland County Finance Department was recognized by the Garland County Human Resources Committee on Monday, August 13, 2018, during the monthly Quorum Court meeting. Hessee was honored as the June 2018 recipient of the Employee of the Month award. The Employee of the Month award requires a nomination from a department head detailing the reasons the nominee should be chosen.

"Last October when she took the position as Payroll Administrator, Michelle had no problem learning the payroll software and procedures. She had prior experience and knowledge of the federal and state tax laws that kept our county on track," stated Susan Ashmore, Garland County Comptroller. "This month (July) Michelle has moved us into the 21st century. We are now paying our benefits electronically, which will save our county time and money,"  Ashmore cited as one of the many examples of Hessee's contributions. "She is always respectful, helpful, and empathetic when dealing with our employees and their needs, which is very important to me." 

Hessee currently serves as the Payroll Administrator for the Garland County Finance department and has worked with Garland County for almost four years.

"I am so happy to be nominated, let alone chosen as Employee of the Month," stated Hessee. "I am grateful for my job, and I enjoy what I do."

Vivian Thomas Named May 2018 Employee of the Month

The Garland County Human Resources Committee recognized Vivian Thomas of the Treasurer's office as the May 2018, recipient of the Garland County Employee of the Month award. Thomas accepted the honor on Monday, August 13, 2018, during the monthly Garland County Quorum Court meeting.

The Employee of the Month award requires a nomination from an elected official or department head detailing the reasons the nominee should be chosen.

"She is one of the most dedicated and hardworking people I have ever had the great pleasure to work with," remarked Tim Stockdale, Garland County Treasurer. "She always makes sure her tasks are completed on or ahead of schedule and takes the initiative to adjust her daily activities in the event of unforeseen circumstances to ensure the extra work is accomplished on time." 

Thomas serves as the Chief Deputy of the Garland County Treasurer's office and has worked for Garland County for eleven years.

"I appreciate this award and especially appreciate my co-workers here at Garland County," Thomas said in an email.
