Environmental Inspections
Mission Statement
To protect and maintain our community's environmental health by creating a clean and safe place to live, work, and visit, thereby ensuring a sustainable future for Garland County residents.
Responsibilities
This division is responsible for environmental inspection for the County and manages several environmental programs listed below. The inspections division ensures that environmental mandates required by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), and the Garland County Ordinance are implemented throughout the county.

The County has employees who are ADEQ licensed Illegal Dump Control Officers who are also appointed as Environmental Officers for the County and are authorized to conduct inspections and initiate proper mitigation of Environmental Issues within the County.
Additional Responsibilities
- To review Stormwater Plans and issuance of Garland County Stormwater Permits under the state-mandated County’s general Stormwater permit and monitor construction site Stormwater runoff.
- To mitigate the impact of illicit discharges (control spills, dumping, and the disposal of materials) into the Stormwater drainages of the County.
- To investigate all complaints and enforce any that may violate the Garland County Nuisance Property Ordinance.
- To enforce and eradicate all illegal dump/burning of solid waste within the County.
